Keeping Safe
Although Discord is a popular communication platform among communities and groups, players need to understand how to protect themselves among the platform.
Things to Note
- Users CAN find ways to grab your IP.
- Users CAN be manipulative to make their Discord server sound appealing to join.
- All Discord servers other than the Official Cosmic Sky Discord are NOT moderated by Cosmic Sky.
- Evidence in Discord regarding reports is NOT admissible. Any evidence over Discord should be sent to an Admin through Purchase Help Tickts.
Keep Yourself Secure
- Do NOT open links that you do not know or links that are untrusted.
- Do NOT add people as a friend that you do not know or trust.
- Do NOT answer Discord calls from people that you do not know or trust.
- Do NOT allow people to screenshare you that you do not know or trust.
- Do NOT keep people in your Discord that you do not trust.
- Be sure to set up 2FA on your Discord account. (Recommended Authenticator is Authy)
- Be sure to enable Streamer Mode if you are streaming. This will hide your email and Discord ID from being seen if you accidently open your Discord settings.
Privacy Settings
Discord has a variety of privacy settings in order to help you keep yourself safe, however it is also up to you to ensure your security.
- Here are some helpful tips when securing your account:
- Streamer Mode enables you to HIDE your information when the settings button is clicked. (Email and Discord ID)
- Direct Message Scanning allows you to have Discord filter through your direct messages for explicit content. Multiple settings for this section are provided, including the ability to turn scanning off.
- Sever Privacy Settings allows you to choose if you want to allow direct messages from server members.
- Friend Settings can allow you to choose who can add you as a friend. (Everyone, Friends of Friends, and/or Server Members)
- IMPORTANT: All of these setting options can be accessed by clicking the Gear like icon next to your mute and deafen icons.
