Island-Bound Resources Island-Bound Resources are a new system designed to keep core materials tied to the island where they were generated. Players voted for this change for Map #9, selecting Raw Resources, Smelted Resources, and Custom Recipe outputs as items that should remain island-locked.
This system prevents players from moving key production items between islands while still allowing normal trading and transport of most progression materials.
How Island-Bound Resources Work
Any resource item created, harvested, dropped, or generated on an island becomes bound to that specific island. Bound items cannot be removed from the island where they originated.
The following categories are restricted and cannot leave their origin island:
Restricted Resource Types
- All Mob Drops
- All Crop Drops
- All Fresh Fishing Drops
- All Farmed Fishing Drops
- All Mining Resources
- Filled Honeycomb & Honey Bottles
- All versions of the above created by Smelting Bots
- All Bundled versions of the above items
These items are locked to the island where they spawned.
Items That Are NOT Restricted
The following items work normally and can still be transported, traded, /pv-ed, and /ah-ed:
- Empty Honeycomb
- Science Scraps, Ingots, and Blocks
- Nodes
- Seeds
- Spawners
- And nearly all miscellaneous items not listed as restricted
These continue functioning as they always have.
Storage & Trading Limitations
Bound resources follow strict rules:
- Restricted items **cannot** be placed on the Auction House
- Restricted items **cannot** be stored in /pv
- Restricted items **cannot** be moved between islands through any normal method
This ensures raw and processed island-made materials stay on the island that produced them.
The /collectresources System
If a player tries to take a bound item off the island where it was created, it is not lost.
Instead:
- The item is automatically moved into the player’s /collectresources menu
- This menu is structured similarly to /collect
- Items are organized by the island they belong to
Reclaiming Resources
Players may only withdraw items from /collectresources **while physically standing on the island where those items were originally generated**.
This prevents unintended item transfers while ensuring that no items are destroyed by mistake.
Summary
Island-Bound Resources reinforce island-level identity and prevent resource-moving exploits while keeping the overall gameplay experience fair and balanced. Players can still access misplaced items through /collectresources, ensuring no progress is lost even when restricted materials are moved off-island.
